Assessment

At Rivertree Free School all progress is recognised and celebrated. We understand that our pupils may make both linear and lateral progress and for some pupils the maintenance of skills should also be acknowledged and celebrated.

B Levels

We have recently introduced a new method for tracking the progress our pupils make. Brackenfield levels are based on age equivalences. The assessment system has been based on the EYFS age bandings as well as the end of year and end of key stage expectations from the National Curriculum.

The aim of this tracking system is to highlight the progress being made in areas such as Communication, PE, PSED, Maths and English. This will then enable staff to identify gaps in learning in order to the adapt lessons and implement interventions to meet the needs of all pupils.

Pupil Progress Meetings

Discussions are held between Class Teachers and Senior Leaders in termly Pupil Progress meetings. These meetings look closely at the progress being made by the pupils and the evidence that supports the teachers judgment.  Any pupils identified to not be making the expected progress can be discussed and interventions and support allocated.

EHCP Targets

All pupils EHCP targets are reviewed and amended during their Annual Review and are then tracked by the class teacher and team.  Evidence of progress towards these targets is collated on Evidence Me and can be shared with parents.  Targets can be adjusted throughout the year to meet the needs of the pupil.

Qualifications

We currently have no pupils in the Year Groups that would be gaining recognised qualifications.  However, it is hoped that all of our pupils will work towards a qualification appropriate to their needs to be achieved and celebrated by the time they leave Rivertree.  The work that will lead to these qualifications will support pupils in developing a better understanding of the path they may wish to pursue after they leave Rivertree and will develop meaningful and functional skills that will serve them well into adulthood.
