PSHE

At Rivertree Free School, we promote the personal wellbeing and development of our young people through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum. Part of the PSHE curriculum is Relationship and Sex Education (RSE). Whilst some areas of the RSE curriculum are discretely taught to higher key stages, such as puberty in KS2 / KS3, the majority of RSE learning experiences are holistically encompassed in daily life from EYFS through the key stages.

Our RSE curriculum incorporates the following teaching areas:

  • Healthy relationships, including friendships and families.
  • Growing and changing, including puberty; personal hygiene; changing feelings; becoming more independent; keeping safe.
  • Developing self-esteem and confidence.
  • Private body parts, body privacy; correct vocabulary; understanding boundaries; consent; what to do if boundaries are crossed.

All RSE teaching takes place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values.
